The Korean Register (KR) international classification society has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) for the design of a new ship ready to use ammonia as a fuel. The Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) will be able to use ammonia as fuel and transport it as cargo.
Jointly developed by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and KR, the new design represents a significant step in expanding an international supply chain for clean fuel.
