EPE issues a Technical Note on Hydrogen Production and Consumption in Brazil

The publication aims to explain, in a simplified way, the operation of process units in refineries that produce and consume hydrogen, detailing their production capacity in domestic refineries.

Additionally, based on the analysis of estimated hydrogen volumes for use in refineries, over the ten-year horizon, it presents a possible surplus of production capacity that could be offered to the domestic market.

It was also sought to raise discussion points related to the challenges for the production of hydrogen and the reduction of its consumption in refineries, through the improvement of the efficiency of the processes.
